Medical Technician

Job Description:

Our client is seeking a Medical Assistant / Technician to join their busy ophthalmic office to assist the ophthalmologist with initial patient screening and administrative tasks. The hours for the Medical Assistant / Technician will be Monday through Friday 7:30am-5pm. Willing to train the right candidate. Must be professional and friendly and able to move quickly while working in a team enviroment. This position offers $13-14 per hour with benefits.

Responsibilities:

• Prepare procedure and exam rooms, inventory equipment and supplies, maintain equipment, and replenish supplies and equipment

• Perform basic triage per specific office protocol procedures

• Maintain professional appearance and personal conduct at all times

• Adhere to employer work practices as described in employee manual and TMC OSHA policy

• Work as a team member within the ophthalmology department and all other departments

• Effectively cope with typical job stress

• Document work processes as required

• Perform other duties as assigned

Education Requirements:

• High school diploma required

• Associate degree preferred

Desired Background/Skills:

• Prior medical experience or background in ophthalmology preferred

Qualifications:

• Must be able to walk and stand for long periods of time with very limited time away from clinic

• Must be able to bend and stoop

• Must be able to guide patients through office and occasionally assist with transferring patients from wheelchair to exam chair

• Must be able to work 8 - 12 hours a day as needed

• Must be able to lift 10-15 pounds

• Must have good hand eye coordination

• Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information

• All Medical Technician candidates must pass a pre-employment background and drug screening
