Job Description:

Our client, based in Roanoke, has an exciting direct-hire opportunity for a Maintenance Team Lead to join the team! The Maintenance Team Lead performs technical maintenance for equipment, machinery, structures, and grounds while maintaining a safe working environment. The Maintenance Team Lead will assist the Maintenance Manager in mentoring the Maintenance Team Members in all aspects of maintenance and for the next level in their career. The Maintenance Team Lead will perform inspections, preventive maintenance, and repairs on facility equipment such as but not limited to gear reducers, electric motors, conveying systems, forklifts, and other functions. This is a direct-hire, 3rd shift opportunity with the need to be flexible on holidays and weekends.


  • Perform all levels of technical repairs on equipment and machinery.

  • Install and repair electrical apparatus, such as transformers, lights, outlets, circuit breakers, and wiring, electrical and electronic equipment components.

  • Coordinate with the Maintenance Manager on daily workload.

  • Disassemble, assemble, install and maintain pipe systems, and related hydraulic and pneumatic equipment.

  • Repair and replace gauges, valves, pressure regulators, and related equipment.

  • Inspect and test machinery and equipment.

  • Perform scheduled and preventive maintenance of equipment, machinery, electrical systems, and structures using blueprints, diagrams, manuals, and written instructions while adhering to all safety guidelines to ensure efficient operations.

  • Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair malfunctions of equipment and machinery promptly.

  • Construct and install or repair equipment in accordance with manufactures guidelines and repair manual

  • Repair and maintain the physical structure of the facility

  • Install or repair automated machinery, equipment such as sortation systems and troubleshoot programmable controllers

  • Discuss machine operation variations with Managers, Team Managers, and other Team Members to diagnose problems and machine repairs.

  • Ensures all hazardous material in the Maintenance Department is stored in a flammable storage cabinet at the end of each shift or when not in use

  • Organize, assign, and follow-up on maintenance repairs, work orders, projects, and other maintenance tasks as directed by the Maintenance Manager.

Education Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required

  • 2+ years related experience and/or training

  • Minimum one year of maintenance experience in a distribution center

Desired Background/Skills:

  • Post hire certifications may be required to comply with safety standards as mandated by law to operate machinery or equipment.

  • Work various shifts, departments and locations, as required

  • Overtime, weekends and holidays are required


  • Must possess or pass the Basic Mechanical, Industrial Mechanical, Industrial Electrical, Industrial Controls, Hydraulic/Pneumatic and Cutting/Welding Skill Assessment

  • General knowledge of all shop equipment, test equipment, and hand/power tools, conveyor systems, material handling equipment, building, HVAC, lighting, electrical, and all other related equipment and structures, security controls and fire protection systems

  • Good communication and writing skills

  • Ability to use hand, power tools and shop equipment

  • Ability to read and interpret Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS)

  • Basic knowledge of blue prints and schematic reading

  • Ability to use hand, power tools and shop equipment

  • Knowledge of and skilled in blue print and schematic reading
