Laboratory Technologist

Job Description:

Our partner, a national provider of diagnostic testing, has an immediate need for a Technologist at their Birmingham location. This position will perform clinical lab tests and analysis according to established testing procedures within the designated technical department. Training will be provided however applicants are expected to gain and apply knowledge of department procedures and operations. We are currently hiring for a 2nd shift and 3rd shifts. Positions will start on a contract to hire basis with a potential of long term employment.


  • Perform department specific test and specimen analysis

  • Will wear appropriate personal protective equipment while working in a clinical setting

  • Moderate physical effort (up to 30 pounds); must comply with applicable safety procedures

  • Ability to shift priorities and work in a fast paced environment

Education Requirements:

  • Must have a BA/BS degree in Biology, Chemistry, Medical Technology, or other related science (or 24 credits in Chemistry/Biology constituting a biological science major) as required by CLIA

Desired Background/Skills:

  • 1+ years of direct clinical lab experience is required


  • 1+ years of direct clinical lab experience is required

  • Familiarity with Lab protocol and equipment (ex: microscopes, centrifuge, pipettes etc)

  • 1+ years of direct clinical lab experience is required

  • Proficiency with numbers and ability to interpret written data

  • Ability to quickly and accurately research information

  • Good time management

  • Ability to utilize computerized databases

  • Effective written and verbal communication

  • Excellent computer skills
