Job Description:

Our client, a leading benefits brokerage firm, is seeking a Financial Consultant to join their team! The Financial Consultant (FC) will support and advise the Benefits Consulting team with technical financial expertise and claim analytics, as well as develop and maintain our analytics deliverables. Typical functions include, but are not limited to, gathering and summarizing claim data, creating and presenting mid-year utilization reviews, benchmarking data, and providing ad hoc analysis throughout the year. Successful FCs enjoy using Excel to its fullest extent and are confident using math to understand and solve problems. The FC must flourish in a team environment and be a clear, confident communicator with executive-level audiences on complex client accounts. FCs also have the opportunity to serve as mentor to junior team members. This is a hybrid remote, direct hire opportunity located in Atlanta, GA.


  • Collect, analyze and interpret health care data for client reports. Typical reports include monthly claim reports, mid-year utilization reviews, renewal projections, and benchmarking reports.

  • Develop Premium Equivalent rates and reserve estimates for self-funded plans.

  • Conduct self-funding feasibility analysis for clients and prospects.

  • Calculate employee contributions to meet employer cost objectives.

  • Conduct qualitative and/or quantitative studies using spreadsheets, databases, and customized applications.

  • Present complex data at client meetings, including C-Suite audiences.

  • Work on special projects as needed.

Education Requirements:

  • A bachelor degree in Business, Economics, Finance, Risk Management, or Accounting preferred.

Desired Background/Skills:

  • Excellent influencing and collaboration skills.

  • Excellent technical/ Microsoft with emphasis on Excel.

  • Strong research, analytical and data management skills.

  • Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills.

  • Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills.

  • Proficiency in math (ratios, weighted averages, algebra, basic actuarial/statistical concepts, etc).

  • Mastery of Excel (required); Tableau experience preferred.


  • Experience in employee benefits including a strong knowledge of both fully insured and self-funded health and welfare plans (carrier/TPA review & negotiation, network analysis, stop loss strategies, claims reporting, current legislation, etc) required.

  • Life & Health License required.

  • 5+ years of experience in an underwriting/quantitative role at a carrier or employee benefits consulting firm required.
